Silence
The silence speaks to me again
Encouraging me , discouraging me
Shall I , shall I not
Will I , will I not
Is this inspite of
Or because of the silence?
Did you say something?
I did not hear you
Did I say something?
I think I did
But I do not hear myself even
For I speak into a silence.
What did I mean to say?
What did you want to hear?
Shall I say what you want to hear?
Or is it that when I say
what I say
You will hear what you want to hear?
Is all this noise the silence
and is the silence that which is real
Is it silent because we don t hear
Inspite of each of us talking?
Is the silence that we fear
The reason for all the noise?
Can you live with the Silence ?
Can you die with the silence?
When there is nothing but silence
When all you are left with is silence
when you are all alone in the grave.?

Rumi said:
Listen, if you can
stand to . . .
Union with the Friend
means not being who you've been,
being instead silence: A
place: A view
where language is seeing
inside.

There is a way between
voice and presence
where information flows.
In disciplined silence it
opens.
With wandering talk it
closes.
No one said this would be
easy . . .
Rumi, translation by Coleman Barks sent to me by David Fideler
This poem is about communication, or the lack of it.
It is about listening or the lack of listening
It is about feeling alone yet wanting noise, noise which is distraction
from listening
It is about being able to listen to the silent voice of guidance from
within ourselves
It is about getting ready for the final Silence.
